Hi readers, I'm Tina Fast (yes, that is my last name and yes, it does fit me perfectly) your Macaroni Kid Allen publisher/editor. I just wanted to take a moment to (re)introduce myself to all of you and share a few things about myself.
- I have been publishing Macaroni Kid Allen for 1 year and I have loved this adventure. I have met so many awesome people and have really been able to connect with our community more than I thought possible.
- My mission with Macaroni Kid is to bring YOU local fun and to help connect your family to the Allen/Wylie/Murphy community. When we moved to Lucas/Allen, we didn't know anyone. Getting out, doing activities, and going to events helps you to feel like you belong. We are a very active family.
- All my kids were born in California, but we feel Texas is really our home. My husband and I fell in love with Texas the moment we visited. I wanted to move here in 2004 when I came for a vacation, took me a little longer than I had hoped, but I made it.
- I am a Nurse Practitioner and have worked in pediatrics since I was 17 years old as a medical assistant. I love kids and always am looking for ways to help them and families in different capacities. Macaroni Kid was a complete change of pace for me. Being in medicine for over 20 years, I feel this is a fun change of pace, but still in the same realm.
- I have a bachelor's degree in Nursing and a second one in Family and Consumer Sciences: Emphasis Child Develpment.
- I enjoy learning. I hope to go back to school this year for a second Nurse Practitioner Certification... but we'll see if I can find the right fit. With 3 kids at home, 2 dogs, a job, a husband, and life... we'll see if I can make it work.
- I have 4 children ranging from 24 years old to 4 years old. I have the gamut. They have taught me way more than I have taught them. They are amazing kids and I love them so much.
- I am fluent in sarcasm... but in God's wisdom he gave me 2 children with autism, and 1 very sensitive daughter. I have been learning their languages ever since. Luckily, He also gave me a spunky, sarcastic little girl who I'm sure will be my best friend one day... when she's done driving us crazy through the teenage years. My kids have amazing hearts and are the most loving, caring people and I am so proud to call them mine. Even though times can be challenging, they are awesome.
- I played a lot of sports in high school, but my main sport was water polo. I sincerely hope this sport starts spreading more in Texas because I would love it!
I'm really looking forward to another year of sharing all the fun activities and events Allen/Wylie/Murphy have to offer with you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your one-stop spot for family fun.
