Who Knew Cooking Could Be So Fun - Young Chefs Academy Did!

Camps, Classes, Parties, and More

By Tina Fast July 21, 2022

If your child has any interest at all of what you are doing in the kitchen, then Young Chefs Academy of Allen/McKinney needs to be your next stop. My children have dabbled in the kitchen here and there... Helping me decorate a cake, mix a few ingredients, maybe even cut an onion. But that's really it. They get bored or don't want to follow the recipe or my little one wants to put her hands in and taste it. Or I don't have the patience to slow down the recipe because dinner needs to get on the table.

Young Chefs Academy is here for the win. My 6 year old and 9 year old were able to enjoy 2 days of camp with them and they immediate fell in love with cooking. They had a great time and learned so much. Making scratch recipes from start to finish and being a part of every step really helped them appreciate the joy of cooking as well as the rewards.

The first day I picked them up from camp they actually asked me to leave because they wanted to stay longer and keep cooking. They made bow tie pasta from scratch... not the box stuff mom makes. No, they made the dough, pressed, cut, shaped, and then cooked a delicious garlic and broccoli recipe that they even got to bring home for us to try on our own. During that camp they also made a chocolate cake and fresh fruit soda. Talk about heaven for kids. And more importantly they are developing a love for the art.

The next camp day they were so excited to find out what they were making. Learning about working together in a kitchen, safety, and reading a recipe while delighting in the process of cooking. My daughter loved (and I mean LOVED) the garlic butter knots. She talked about them for 2 days and keeps asking when we can make the recipe again. My son enjoyed the Chicken Chili Frito Pie, which is a given. They also made 2 desserts, lemon sugar cookies and dueling brownies with a blonde layer and a chocolate layer. YUM!

If you are looking for a couple more camps to finish off the summer or classes throughout the year Young Chefs Academy Allen/McKinney will be a hit both for your kids and you. This program has so many levels of learning with reading, science, math, cooperation, listening, and more.

And Young Chefs Academy Allen/McKinney also does birthday parties. These unique parties are geared for different age and skill levels starting as young as 4 years old. You can choose a Pizza Party, a Perfect Pasta Party, a Royal Tea Party, or a Cupcake Celebration. Sounds amazing!
